Fortlands Point on Discovery Bay

Named in reference to the colonial era, Fortlands Point villa resides at the site of the original military fortification leading into Discovery Bay. Indeed, the pronounced geography of the landscape sprawling around this magnificent estate remains a testament to the purpose of this once strategic vantage point. Today, Fortlands Point endures as an iconic spot from which to soak in the sights, sounds and smells of the Caribbean Sea, while basking in the Jamaican sun.

Neither work nor workout regime need be sacrificed at Fortlands Point. The villa comes equipped with Wi-Fi, a computer and a fitness center. The grounds offer three private white sand beaches, a swimming pool and alfresco dining areas. Cool off in the gazebo after a sea kayaking expedition or a round of squash at the on-site court. Kayaks, as well as squash and snorkeling gear, are complimentary. Full staff is also provided.

Padded rattan arm chairs and cozy couches fill the interior living areas of Fortlands Point. A formal dining room with a high arched ceiling awaits as the backdrop for many wonderful memories. The kitchen comes with a center island and top of the line appliances.

The seven bedrooms at Fortlands Point can accommodate up to ten adults and four children. Each comes with air conditioning and ceiling fan. The large bedroom on the upper level is particularly breathtaking with its crossed archways that are reminiscent of an Escher painting. The downstairs bedroom has its own verandah and is wheelchair accessible.

Aside from the cozy sumptuousness offered at Fortlands Point, the villa also serves as a spectacular setting for weddings and other special occasions for up to 75 guests. You’ll find it at the end of a gated road in the center of the renowned Sandy Lane Estate, making it one of our most private villas in Barbados. The view is top notch—the home overlooks the eighth hole of the estate’s famous golf course. The island of Barbados is known for its fine beaches, warm climate and coral reefs.

Take your pick from a variety of sun loungers surrounding the Japanese mosaic pool and jacuzzi. You could easily spend a whole day out here thanks to the facilities in two gazebos, one boasts a bar and the other a bathroom and shower. If you need some shade, head to the covered terrace where you’ll find sofas as well as a dining area for alfresco meals.

You’ll find the interior of the home equally comfortable. The open-concept main living area is done in soothing creams, blues and browns along with modern accents and plush furnishings, plus it opens up to the terrace.
