Following a revitalizing dip in your sculpted pool, shower off and head for the well-cushioned poolside gazebo – the perfect hideaway for a shaded lunch or some private laptop time.

Clean white walls are adorned with colorful artwork throughout and sliding doors in the bedrooms make the most of the manicured lawns and calming views. In the evenings you might prefer to settle in the elegant living room and peruse the tall library shelves for books and movies. Or select some music, recline on a deep-seated sofa and listen on the 6-speaker sound system. Dining by romantic candlelight on the verandah is another option, as you admire the twinkling lights of the town and cruise ships reflected on the bay.

By night your dreams will be deep as you rest in a picture-perfect air-cooled bedroom. All four are en-suite and three enjoy access to the garden. The Master bedroom boasts a king-size bed and outdoor shower. Bedroom Four is fitted with a queen-size bed while Bedrooms Two and Three have twins.

Bambu

Nine miles west of Montego Bay is a large private site overlooking perhaps the most glorious view of sea and sky on Jamaica’s renowned North Coast. Elegantly perched on eight and a half acres atop a hill is Bambu, a grand six-bedroom private villa distinguished by its classic architecture and appreciated by discerning vacationers.

Wi-Fi access, Apple television, new marble bathrooms and a state-of-the-art kitchen complement lovely new interiors. Bambu’s extensive grounds and gardens are also noteworthy and incredibly relaxing. The dedicated team of gardeners have created a lush and lavish tropical paradise, with natural stone pathways that wind through gardens to plush private terraces. The villa has a separate entrance for wheelchair users and the Bambu pool features a broad 4″ deep wheelchair platform as well. This shallow water platform is also a safe pool area for toddlers. Breakfast at the river is a marvelous way to start your day. Cocktails on the terrace over the bay and dinner in the gazebo feature one of the most beautiful night time light shows anywhere in the world.

Multi-million dollar renovations of interiors and grounds have resulted in an impressive facelift of this elegant grand dame. Today its modern comforts and infrastructure mesh with Bambu’s original Euro charm and glamour. Its newest feature is an open-air garden shower and bathtub outside a small hideaway bedroom downhill from the main house, which is further enhanced by a nine-mile view across Montego Bay. Bambu was designed by architect Robert Hartley in the early 1960’s as a unique melding of West Indies architecture and Italian Venetian style. Its Palladian arches, dramatic central pool and Italian sculptures make it one of the most photographed homes in this collection.

Bambu has six bedrooms in all, one of which has been designed to be a children’s room. The master bedroom is wheelchair accessible and has two en-suite bathrooms, office, dressing room and access to a covered veranda with captivating ocean views.

If you’ve left your pets at home while you’re on vacation, be advised that Bambu is home to three affectionate Mastiff pups. At your preference, they may be allowed to roam the grounds and come in to play with you or be kept in their large, open-air kennel. Sangster International Airport (MBJ) and town are just over 20 minutes by car from this gracious and opulent vacation home.
